Privacy Policy

Who we are

ScreenTriggers is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us about any privacy matter at privacy@screentriggers.com.

What we collect

• Account data — your email address and a password managed by our authentication provider, or the basic profile returned by a social sign-in you choose to use.
• Profile settings — your saved triggers, your saved list of titles, your notification preferences and whether you have chosen to display a public username. Profiles are anonymous by default.
• Contributions — trigger reports, comments, phobia requests and website fix requests you submit, including any note or screenshot link you attach.
• Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) needed to run and secure the service.

We do not ask for, and ask that you do not submit, health records or other special category data. Choosing a trigger is a preference setting, not a diagnosis, and it is only visible to you.

Why we use it and our legal basis

• Contract — to create your account, save your settings and publish the reports you submit.
• Legitimate interests — to moderate contributions, prevent abuse, keep the service secure and improve it.
• Consent — for optional advertising or measurement cookies, and for any optional email updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose data by law.

Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that process it on our instructions: our hosting and database provider (Lovable Cloud, backed by Supabase), our email delivery provider, and — only if you accept optional cookies — our advertising provider. Film and TV metadata and imagery are retrieved from TMDB; requesting a title page sends that request to TMDB but not your account data.

International transfers

Some providers operate outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

Account and profile data are kept while your account is open and deleted after you close it. Published trigger reports and comments may remain on the site in anonymised form so the community resource stays intact. Server logs are kept for a short operational period.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can change your triggers, list, public-name setting and notification preferences yourself on your profile, and edit or delete your own pending requests there. For anything else, email us and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Children

ScreenTriggers is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly create accounts for them; contact us if you believe we hold a child's data.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be announced on the site.
